WHY DECEMBER IS GOING TO BE WONDERFUL

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

I'm beginning to write this post on the 30th of November, precisely 4:44pm (the Chinese inside of me shudders at this serendipity), and I'm honestly wondering, how did I let this year go by so fast.

I don't know whether it's just age catching up to me (and busier schedules) that has let 2014 seem to flow by so undetected, but I can't help but feel so much joy in seeing that it has. It's rather exciting for me, to be able to finally (and easily) count down the little days 2014 has left. To cross the finish line with absolute exaltation, and to maximise my content of the ending year, I made sure my December plans don't shy through a slight hint of booooring.

1. SEMESTER ONE WILL BE OVER?!?!?!

This is probably what I'm most excited for. A semester over means only one more semester to go, and if I'm lucky, it'll go by as fast as this one. Don't get me wrong here, I don't have a problem with going to school; I like my friends, I like the subjects, I enjoy everyday of it (even the ones that I struggle to keep my eyes open through). It's just how much better next year will be is what gets me going. I mean, I'm aware of the many ways it could, most likely, end up being terrible. Carissa would come back in a year, holding back tears, writing a new blog post with the most melancholic attitude, fingers hitting the keyboard with passionate force --- but it's probably having the benefit of the doubt, the doubt that it could be great, it could be really great, makes the probable reality a little less harmful. The idea of new things exhilarates me. I want to be overwhelmed, I want to be confused, I want to experience new concepts all over again. And of course, I can't wait to see him all the time.

2. BALI

Do I even need to insert photos of Bali to get you excited as well?!

I don't know if this ever happens to you, but when you travel to a place or do something/meet someone that can only be done once, you look back at it years later (or for me, months later), and instantly regret it. Why didn't I see that? I should have said that! A picture of that would have been so cool. I wish I knew about that! What was I thinking? are just a few of the things that haunt me after a trip overseas. Luckily for me though, being Indonesian, I get the chance to experience Bali over and over again. It's like the opportunity to constantly rewrite the experiences, add to it, live through all that Bali has to offer, is always available (and is always allowed to be suited to whatever I'm enjoying at that point of time). And I don't really know what's different, but I have a good feeling about this trip. I have a sense that this trip is the one I will be content with, the one that will contain all the best of memories, the one following Bali trips will have to compare to, and let me tell you, I'm fucking excited.

But hey, if you guys know any cool places or think of any things I should check out, definitely shoot me an email! I'd love to get more ideas.

3. CARISSA'S GETTING OLDER

For all the December babies out there, I'm sure you can relate to me when I say having your birthday at the end of the year sucks. For one, my date (29th December) is smacked right in between Christmas and New Year, making the thought of a more convenient, joint party rather appealing to all. Not even mentioning the fact that, people get tired of celebrating party after party when everything is happening between the midst of a week, and the party vibe just simply dies down after time. It's those thoughts that make the eternity of a year journey to the actual date itself, feel even longer.

But nevertheless, I made it through, and it's finally time to start celebrating my birthday. I'm not really sure what I'm doing this year; I opted for something rather laid-back and uneventful, but the downsides of having a huge, intricate family back home, is that it makes that dream relatively impossible. Still, it's always somewhat exciting to be able to add one more year to my repertoire of hard work and cold-earned sweat that I have made through this far.

4. MY PACKAGES + SELLING THINGS MAYBE?

Yes! The perpetuity of wait when ordering something online, especially when you're based so so far away from where the goods are usually coming from (China, USA, Australia), kills. It's almost like, you'll order something online, and because it takes so incredibly long to reach here, when it arrives, you've forgotten you've even ordered it.

But alas, the wait will soon be over for me. I just got word saying that my orders have reached the Singapore Hub and will be sent to me via SingPost in the next couple days!! *tears of joy* I'll make sure to update you on how the stuff ends up looking, but it's most likely you'll spot them on Instagram OOTD's very soon.

On the note of online shopping, and yes, I know Carissa has mentioned this a lot by now, but I might be selling some things on here. I'm not really definite on what yet, but I've got a couple ideas. It just takes a lot of time and effort to prepare everything, order, and get all the details in check, which is something I'm just not able to give right now (especially with Finals coming around the corner). But don't fret! On weekends + Dec holidays, Carissa will try and be 100% focused on getting the store out there. Well, as far as the 100% lasts me. Basically, keep on the lookout!

All in all, I'm just extremely enlivened from the thoughts of this year ending, that everything and anything is perceived as absolutely exciting for me right now (even if maybe it's just a slight mundane on other months). Still, I hope you guys have as a great December as I'm having, and let's make sure to keep it this way all through the start of 2015!

TONING IT DOWN WITH SLIGHT LIBRARIAN

Friday, November 28, 2014

Finally went out to eat good food & wearing something decent after a looong 2-3 week hiatus of just simply not putting effort on my own wellbeing (my even darker than before dark circles + random breakouts are clear evidence), but it also didn't hurt that my lunch buddy that day makes an excellent photographer.

I'm wearing a low-cut, laced crop from Bugis Street (for all you Singapore breeders)ripped jeans and gold sliders from The Editor's Market, the nude cardigan is from Forever 21, and the gold, metallic drawstring bag came with my Triangl order.

I thought the jet black ripped denim, the revealing crop, and the bold, metallic hues around my outfit, were just a little bit too strong for me that day, so I added the plain jane, beige cardigan for an extra touch of soft librarian. I think it did the job fairly well.
